Opening the evening with light and rhythm, this shamadan processional draws inspiration from traditional Egyptian celebrations. Led by Aranya instructors with Candelabra and finger cymbals, the dancers enter in unified formation, carrying candles that illuminate the stage. Grounded in heritage and shaped for theatre, this piece sets a powerful and ceremonial tone for the journey ahead.

A love letter to Bollywood's golden era of bold, joyful spectacle. Set to the iconic Choli Ke Peeche from the 1993 film Khal Nayak, this piece weaves expressive Bollywood gesture with the fluid layering of belly dance. Graceful and playfully flirtatious, the dancers embody confidence, charm, and radiant stage presence rooted in cultural nostalgia.

Rooted in the classical tradition of Kathak, this presentation explores the beauty and complexity of Teentaal — a 16-beat rhythmic cycle — moving through Vilambit Laya (slow tempo) and Drut Laya (fast tempo). Grace, precision, intricate rhythmic compositions, and energetic footwork come together in a celebration of the elegance and vitality of North Indian classical dance. Anushree and her students have been a cherished part of the Aranya community this past year, and tonight they bring their world to our stage.
